Woodcarving, Fiber Arts, Community Building.
I make hand-carved wooden art that is meant to be both useful and beautiful with a focus on sustainability.
Crochet hooks, dried flower vases, and small objects that serve as reminders to value working with our hands, showing up for each other and our communities, and the temporary nature of life.
I work primarily with scrap wood headed for the landfill as a small resistance to disposability culture.
Roses, wheat, coexisting flowers, and hands both alive and dead appear often in my work- imagery tied to labor, resilience, mortality, making, and community. I leave tool marks visible to honor the time and effort of carving. My work is about embedding art into everyday life and supporting the belief that making still matters.
In the past, I built my professional career in supporting nonprofit and community-centered work. I have worked and extensively volunteered in refugee resettlement, serving survivors of human trafficking, and in community building. My work is shaped by what I’ve experienced and witnessed. Comfort and safety are fragile, but community and a connection to art and purpose can last.
Carved wood objects, meant to be both useful and beautiful with a focus on sustainability, made from scrap wood previously headed for the landfill.
